Providing advice on freight mobility issues
The 13-member Freight Working Group (FWG)
met 23 times from 2007 to 2011 to provide
first-hand knowledge of freight mobility
issues within the project area. Members
included representatives from
freight-related businesses, business
associations and ports of Portland and
Vancouver. The group:
- Provided insight, observation, and recommendation about the needs for truck
access and mobility.
- Characterized the horizontal and vertical clearances, acceleration/deceleration,
and stopping performance needs of trucks.
- Provided meaningful comments on the effect of geometric, regulatory, and
capacity changes on truck movements.
- Provided information about the effects of
congestion on freight-related businesses and the businesses they serve.
