The Columbia River Crossing project team is currently refining designs for each of the project’s components based on public and local partner agency input.

Portland & Vancouver picture

Work in 2009 includes:

  • Selecting a bridge type
  • Engineering a replacement I-5 bridge with 12 lanes (three through lanes and three add/drop lanes in each direction) based on CRC Project Sponsors Council recommendation
  • Refining light rail route through downtown Vancouver, based on CRC Vancouver Working Group alignment recommendation.
  • Meeting with community members to help design light rail stations and park and rides in downtown Vancouver
  • Recommendations from the Portland Working Group on community connections and design for the Hayden Island light rail station
  • Continuing design on improved pedestrian and bicycle facilities
  • Updating cost estimates
  • Researching tolling options, gathering public opinion and developing a finance plan
  • Selecting an interchange option for Marine Drive
  • Talking with communities to hear concerns and provide information
  • Reviewing public comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and writing the Final EIS
