We Are Listening

As a result of project outreach and feedback, the community has shaped the project in some important ways:

We Are Listening

You said,  "Think about ways to keep the existing I-5 bridges and increase transit service."

We are:  Including a Supplemental Bridge option to be studied in more depth during the Draft Environmental Impact Statement process.

You Said, "Make sure that you are talking to all of the communities in the region, including non-English speaking and low income communities."

We are:  Meeting regularly with the Community and Environmental Justice Group.  The project staff also is implementing an outreach plan for the next year that will include outreach to these communities.

We Are Listening

You said, "Express bus and a non-stop ride between Clark County and Portland are essential."

We are: Recommending express bus service in both transit options.

You said, "Make travel safe and easy for freight."

We are: Designing flatter grades and gentler curves at key freight on/off ramps.

You said, "Avoid conflicts with river and air traffic."

We are: Recommending a new bridge without a lift span, that also avoids aviation air space.

In the upcoming months, we want to hear more from you. Future conversations will discuss highway improvements, high capacity transit and a locally preferred alternative.
